SN35.23 — Sabbasutta

Disciples, I will teach you all. Listen carefully. What is all? The eye and forms, the ear and sounds, the nose and smells, the tongue and tastes, the body and tangible objects, the mind and mental phenomena: this is called all, disciples.

If a disciple were to say, I will know all by direct experience, that statement would be limited to him. When questioned, he would not be able to explain it, and he would fall into further confusion.

What is the reason for this? It is because of the nature of that experience, disciples.
